Field Study (2021) is a twelve-piece installation of found polyester-carpets, overlaid with the image of an oil pump. Enlarged to scale the picture was distributed as one large branding onto the different scraps of synthetic home décor. The melted puddles negate these products as final outcomes and activate them materially to their own deformation. The carpets in Field Study exceed consumption, hosting a monumentally symbolic object of the industrial sphere inside their material.

ABOUT THE ARTIST(S):
Dagmar Moldovanu ( b. 1986, DE/RO) graduated from Malmö Art Academy and is currently based in Copenhagen. In her work she amplifies the inherent material properties of mundane objects and familiar technologies to unsettle these things. Through media like sculpture, installation, and real-time transmissions, she turns a thing’s matter against itself, teasing out spectral, material logics that can displace common objects.
