Note: altered digital scan of an image originally found on a postcard from the Ware Collection of Blaschka Glass Flower Models, housed at the Harvard University Museum of Natural History. Reworked to align with the aesthetic language of American artist Christopher Williams’s photographs of the same collection, the core subject of his 1989 project Angola to Vietnam*.

Note: a monochrome print sourced from the cover of the artist book bearing the same title. The product of multiple distortions, from the fading dye of aged paper to alterations imposed by systems of digital to analog translation. Captured using a scanner made for rendering color readings into various implications of digital code, each designed to operate within a specific infrastructure of visual representation.
Materials: Repurposed light fixtures and fluorescent tubes, aluminum frame, inkjet print on Canon backlit film FP4999b, plexiglass.

ABOUT THE ARTIST(S):
The work of Emil Sandström (b.1994, Åsele, SWE) encompasses sculptural installation, sound, photography and writing. He currently lives and works in Malmö, SWE and holds an MFA (2022) and BFA (2020) from Malmö Art Academy.
